FAQ
How do I add walnuts to my diet?
Put walnuts on everything! Walnuts have a unique flavor that complements sweet and savory dishes alike! They make an excellent topping to a wide array of dishes, so try walnuts on whatever you normally eat and you’ll quickly find combinations you enjoy and feel the added nutrition from this superfood.
Walnuts especially shine in making healthy eating delicious. Vegetables take on a new flavor with added walnuts. Fresh walnuts are sweeter, and toasted walnuts are more savory. See Recipe Resources below.
Even if you don’t want to eat healthy, still try adding walnuts to everything. Walnuts make unhealthy eating easier on your conscience and digestive system.
Why are walnuts so expensive in stores?
What are you comparing them to? A box of cereal? A loaf of bread? A dozen eggs? A bag of chips? Isn’t all food expensive these days? But not all “food” is created equal. Some food is better for you and your family. Walnuts are a superfood, meaning they are “rich in compounds (such as antioxidants, fiber, or fatty acids) considered beneficial to a person’s health.” Walnut trees (where walnuts come from) require years of cultivation and care. Harvesting them also requires great effort year after year. Unless you pick them up off the orchard floor in California and crack them in your kitchen, you’ll probably want your walnuts shelled and packaged, right? The small, flashy packaging that walnuts usually come in also contributes to the cost. Bought in bulk, however, Weiler Walnuts are actually affordable – less than $4/lb if you eat them regularly! After eating Weiler Walnuts, you may feel the added benefits of nutrition and satiation far outweigh the cost.
What if I have a walnut allergy?
Many people have found that roasting walnuts, or eating them with other foods, enables them to get the health benefits of walnuts without mouth sores or other allergic reactions. If you have a severe walnut allergy, then sadly walnuts may not be for you at this time. Don’t worry though, people can overcome some food allergies.
